The annual WYC club championship was held over the August bank holiday and could be described as a game of three halves! Three days of two races a day, three different courses, three different wind strengths and sea states all under brilliant sunshine.

Eighteen-year-old Scarlett Hadley represented St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) at the Junior Pan American Games in Encarnacion, Paraguay, 15th to 17th August, delivering a record-making performance in the sailing competition.

In the sweltering, humid heat of Cartagena, the teams have been busily preparing for Leg 3 of The Ocean Race Europe. Undefeated thus far, Paul Meilhat, Amélie Grassi, Sam Goodchild and newcomer Benjamin Ferré are thrilled about their lead.

Five Redwings and five One-Designs lined up in champagne sailing conditions to race for the Campbell Trophy on Monday morning (11th August).

In what seems like a repeat of last year’s Bank Holiday Monday, the third day of Burnham Week 2025 greeted competitors with champagne sailing conditions, while the town quay was buzzing with activity, with pirates of all ages prowling the streets.

Day 1 of the International 14 European Championship started with a race-course set one kilometre downwind of a German Submarine base. With 12-20 knots of wind coming off the shore providing 30 degree shifts, it was a day to keep your head out of the boat.

With five races sailed in National 12 Burton Week at Brightlingsea Ollie Meadowcroft and Cally Terkelsen hold a small lead over Graham and Blue Camm with two races to sail on Tuesday.

The fleet had gathered at St Mary’s Loch in the Scottish Borders and waited patiently for the wind. The forecast was not promising but eventually it came, light and from the north, while the clouds were drifting from the south.

Over the four days of August 7 to 10, Minnis Bay Sailing Club set itself the challenge of hosting the National Championships of two classic catamaran classes, in the shape of the Shearwaters and the Tornados.

It’s rare to have weather that’s as similar on two successive days as it was on the Sunday and Monday of Poole Week 2025. Monday was, like Sunday, a beautiful day on the water.
