Albacore season opener at Maidenhead
Sunday 12 April 2026 saw the traditional season opener at Maidenhead Sailing Club. Albacore sailors from eight visiting clubs joined nine local boats for a demanding and competitive day’s racing, with a good dose of spring sunshine and breeze.

Spring sunshine and a pleasant 8 to 12 kts from the South-West greeted the Scorpion fleet for a weekend of sprint racing at Staunton Harold S.C. The breeze was perfect for windward leeward courses with plenty of shifts.

Discover Sailing at Dovestone SC
On Saturday 16th May over 50 participants new to sailing enjoyed a 30 minute sail on the stunning beauty spot Dovestone Reservoir. This was part of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Discover Sailing initiative and is an annual event.

New Zealand’s Seb Menzies and George Lee Rush have become the youngest 49er world champions in history after producing a nerve-shredding comeback to win the world title overnight in Quiberon, France (NZ time).

Mirror Southern Championship at Netley
The Mirror fleet returned to Netley, after a very successful Nations. The big home fleet helped boost the entry to 28 boats. Most were looking forward to slightly less than the 25knots every day at the Nationals!

2026 49er, 49erFX & Nacra 17 Worlds overall
There were three world titles up for grabs at the 49er, 49erFX and Nacra 17 World Championships, and at the end of Sunday’s medal racing there were three brand new world champions.
