Racing resumed today off Sorrento for the second day of inshore competition at the IMA Maxi European Championship 2026, once again marked by light and unstable breeze that tested tacticians and crews throughout the day.

Less than a week remains to enter the 2026 ORC European Championship in Klaipeda, Lithuania, using the Early Bird entry fee advantage, which expires on 1 June.

What a week for sailing! So much has been going on that it’s tricky to even know where to start. There have been so many highlights, both in terms of the events I attended in the UK and what has been happening further afield.

The 2026 J/70 Corinthian Worlds officially opened with spectacular conditions on the waters off Marseille, France, as competitors representing 20 nations gathered for the first day of racing hosted by Club La Pelle and Union Nautique Marseillaise.

A fleet of 20 boats gathered for a challenging and entertaining weekend of racing in 5-15 knots of warm wind and sunshine. Despite the pleasant conditions, the breeze proved uncharacteristically shifty, making racing exceptionally tactical.

This year’s RNLI 90 minute pursuit race took place on a hot and sunny Bank Holiday Monday with a light breeze forecast and a strong ebb tide. The RNLI’s B Class lifeboat stood by the racing and a collection was taken in aid of the local RNLI station.

In a sun-drenched but windless Quiberon Bay, 73 skippers set off this Monday morning for the 13th edition of the Mini en Mai, organized by the Société Nautique de La Trinité-sur-Mer (SNT).

Since taking over as British Classic Yacht Club Regatta Chairman in 2024, Giovanni Belgrano has sought to breath fresh life into British Classic Week, this year taking place out of Cowes Yacht Haven over 20-25 July.

Rob Craigie’s Sun Fast 3600 Bellino, racing two handed with RORC Commodore Deb Fish, won the 2026 RORC Myth of Malham Race overall after IRC time correction.

After being split apart, the two fleets are coming back together. It is a situation everyone had been waiting for and one that is reshuffling the cards, with Adrien Hardy providing the perfect example.
