The Sharpie class continues to thrive thanks to classic gaff rig and sleek lines, Olympic pedigree, competitive racing, and 94 years of history handed down through many family generations in the Sharpie class, very often in the same boats.

The second leg of The Ocean Race Europe 2025 kicked off this evening in Portsmouth in bright sunshine, with seven IMOCAs lining up off Cowes at 17:00 local time.

The Germany Sail Grand Prix delivered some of the most extreme racing conditions of the Season so far, with the Swiss SailGP Team battling through a weekend of high-speed, high-stakes action on the Baltic Sea.

The final day of the Germany Sail Grand Prix came after a long night of repairs, as the SailGP Tech Team and the Emirates GBR shore crew worked against the clock to fix the British F50. The boat had suffered a large hole in the port hull.

In a stunning weekend comeback, the France SailGP Team claimed their first event win of the 2025 Season – bouncing back from near-disaster in practice to beat the BONDS Flying Roos and Emirates GBR in an action-packed winner-takes-all Final.

With a strong entry from sailors from around the UK, it was particularly pleasing to have many recent SYC Cadets moving up to the faster fleets, along with one GP14 crew from Sweden and Australian visitors.

Running from 10-15th August, this was the 51st annual Mersea Week and was blessed with superb sunny weather and good breezes until the final day, when the wind shut off completely all morning and this forced the cancellation of the final day’s racing.

Sailing in much lighter breezes of 25km/h (13.5kts) France (Quentin Delapierre) won the three boat Final in SailGP Germay sailed in Sassnitz, on the Blatic Sea.

The 2025 ILCA Senior European Championships & Open European Trophy came to a close today in spectacular fashion, as the new European champions were crowned across all three fleets. A sunny sky and classic Marstrand conditions prevailed.
