European and US equities closed another tumultuous week out on a high, with AI shares rebounding the tech sector.

Notts County Sailing Club has an annual First of the Year race, a well known tradition going back decades.

2025 was another busy year for the Comet class, with events far and wide to attend. Our season started in April and ended in October. We planned 26 events comprising 24 opens and 2 championships.

Chichester Yacht Club delivered another day of tactical winter racing as the Frozen Toe Series reached Races 7 and 8, sailed in a light-to-moderate breeze and strong tidal conditions that shaped every leg of the course.

After two days marked by a lack of wind at the start of the 49th Palamós Christmas Race, it was not until the third day that sailors finally enjoyed sailing at its best, in the conditions Palamós Bay is renowned for.

Sailors were welcomed by a glorious winter’s day with a gentle F2 occasionally F3 from the SSE/S which would prove testing once racing was under way.

I am sure throughout the sailing community there are numerous unsung heroes who deserve the sailing equivalent of a “THE ONE SHOW, Big Thank You” and in the K1 fleet we have numerous individuals who could easily fit that criteria.

Day 2 of the SSL Gold Cup Asian Qualifier delivered another high-octane chapter of nation-against-nation racing. Tight starts, penalties, protests, and bold manoeuvres shaped four intense races across both groups.

After days of forecast stress, organisers and helpers at Castle Cove were relieved but still slightly weather nervous as arriving visitors were greeted with gusts in the 20’s for the first Sailing South West event at this club.
