SailGP’s foiling circus arrived in the Big Apple last weekend for the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix (May 30-31), which was the only SailGP stopover that’s set to unfurl on American waters this season.

This year’s Three Rivers Race was a true test of endurance for all those taking part, with the average length of time spent on the water being over 21 hours for finishers.

In 2027, Bacardi celebrates the 100th edition of the Bacardi Cup, the longest-running partnership in the history of sailing. What began in 1927 as a 13-boat regatta in Havana, Cuba has grown into one of the sport’s most revered institutions.

Seven visitors added to six boats from the very active Merlin fleet at Starcross YC, giving a range of experience from current leaders of the ST series to recent graduates of the highly successful Rutland training weekend.

With our boats finally back, the time has come to reflect on what was an excellent team performance by the NZ Finn team at the Porsche Finn World Masters (FWM) regatta held from 20-27 February.

At just 17 years old, Anton Gießner is the reigning RS Aero 5 German Youth Champion. This summer, he joins the line up at the RS Aero Youth World Championship, 20-24 July. As part of the wider RS Games 2026, this event carries extra significance.

The Nottingham Sailing Club was a wonderful host for the 2026 Comet Association Championship, which is an annual two day event. The club was founded in 1955 at its present location on the West Bridgford bank of the River Trent.

The opening day of a Championships can be slower starting affairs, as sailors are reluctant to push their boats too much for fear of snapping something early. No so in this fleet, as they have totally hit the water running. Race mode engaged from the gun.

Sunday morning saw blazing sunshine, as sailors arrived they tinkered with their boats and out came the fancy dress costumes for our Feva Fancy Dress Day. As the morning progressed we saw more and more wonderful costumes.

It just marches on. The latest launchings for solo/crewed, mono/multi masterpieces are a tour de force when it comes to material science, electronics, engineering, physics, especially hydro and aerodynamics. Slide rule and Hewlett Packard be damned.
