Hong Kong’s largest sailing event, the Sun Hung Kai & Co. Around the Island Race, took place on Saturday, 13 December with 230 boats taking on the iconic 26nm circumnavigation of Hong Kong Island.

For the second round of the Winter Series 7 sailors and one try a boat took to the water to master the SSW 15 knot wind. The try a boat stayed well clear of the racing but watched most of the 16 races completed.

Seven boats made it down to the club for a mild December weekend, greeted by 18 knots of breeze and a notably low-water harbour. With the tide well out, the conditions demanded full-on boat handling throughout the day putting crews under pressure!
